About the Church

Support Services

Many at Living Word Church participate in "ministries of helps". The Body of Christ, which is the Church, could not function properly unless all members faithfully "do their part". It is an honor to labor for the Lord, even when few others notice. "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Cleaning crews meet three nights a week to work at Living Word Academy. Several crews work at the Academy and at the Worship Center. The crews take turns rotating each week in both facilities. Scores of Church members have volunteered on the cleaning crews over the years, often forging lasting friendships as they labor for the Master. LWA maintenance chief, Bro. Charles Bullard, Jr. ("CJ"), oversees the crews.

Since 1975, each sermon delivered at Church has been recorded. Several brethren assist with the sound system which includes the mixer, which blends the orchestra, piano, choir, and lead singers during worship, and other equipment.

Head doorkeeper Bro. Ron Dean, and various other brethren share the biblical sentiment: "I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God..." (Psalm 84:10) as they open and close the assembly hall, greet folks coming to meetings, and stand by to be of general help during worship.

Brothers and sisters in the congregation are periodically called upon to pitch in for this or that work detail. Volunteers from many walks of life - tradesmen, white-collar professionals, teenagers, homemakers, retirees - lend many hands to make light work of even the most formidable projects sometimes involving construction, clean up, and even landscaping.

Volunteer work crews consisting of various Saints have helped over the years in restoring and rebuilding dilapidated structures at the Church campgrounds while completing other building projects and upgrades. Some of these projects have included building docks, latrines, and a concrete slab for half-court basketball up at camp. Additionally, some of the brethren got together to put new windows and doors onto the Mess hall at the Church campgrounds to spruce up the building. Most recently, a large group of volunteers met to give a "face-lift" to the 30 year old façade of the high school building. Not only does the new look give the building a nicer look, but it now blends in better with the buildings around it.

Living Word Church’s camp has a candy/ice cream store. Sis. Mary Schloss volunteers at the store (affectionately known by the brethren as "The Snack Shack",) to help make the camp season even more enjoyable for young and old alike.
